Wildlife Posters

A series of illustrated Oklahoma wildlife posters. The posters feature geometric stylized renderings of 3 different plains animals and brief biological information. This series serves to highlight local wildlife, raise awareness of conservation success, and to pay homepage to a source of inspiration.

Identity

Logotype and mark are each divided into three sections representing the three part format of the institute: a week long online pre-workshop, the one day on-site workshop, and the week long online post workshop. In the case of the mark this also forms the institute’s initials.

Website

Responsive website design with a mobile first approach to user interaction. Photos were removed for mobile viewing to reduce data usage and improve load times. Overall focus of site design was clear communication and simple interaction, reflecting the institute’s modern approach to the blended learning.

Chracter designs for a web based educational game about ancient Greek theater. Characters are highly stylized to aid with in game animations and to feel dynamic even when static on screen for periods of time.

Game Design

Designs for a browser based educational game about ancient Greek theater. The game is set in an ancient Greek theater in which students control the main character and are promted to answer questions, the result of which alter the course of the play. The play stops before the last act and students are prompted to write an ending to the play that is submitted to the professor.

Chaos to Connection

Azathoth

Student are asked to draw two words out of a bag, one object and one emotion. They then create concept maps that connect the two random and seamingly unrelated words. These serve as jump off points for collage based poster concepts. Although the project is mainly an exercise in creative processes, it is interesting to see how they each develop.

Foamcore

Owl

Student are asked to create a dynamic 3D sculpture out of one sheet of foamcore. They can make partial cuts, folds, and tears but nothing may be completely removed from the sheet. The partially altered sheet must be brought to class on the due date for the project and shown to be complete. The students then have 30 minutes to manipulate the board into the final sculpture using only push pins.

Technicolor City

Monster Building

This projects brings the whole class together designing as a group. Together they design a conceptual city based on a theme they choose together. A city plan is devised and layed out in 12"x12" sections. Each student is given a section that are responsible for designing and producing. Although they work on their section alone they must coordinate with their neighbors so that they fit together and form a cohesive environment.

Conceptual Teapot

Inspiration

This project asks students to create a teapot made of copper wire. However, the "teapot" is not a vessel for liquid, instead it's purose is to communicate an emotion or feeling. This project is designed to allow deeper exploration of a lines ability to communicate and to build confidence working in 3D space.
